Leviticus 26:12

12I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

Devotional

Have you ever noticed a re-occurring pattern when you read through the Bible? God comes to Adam and Eve in the garden. God is with Abraham in Canaan. God meets with Abraham’s descendants in Egypt. He legally bonds with them on the foothills of Mount Sinai. He steps down from Sinai and travels through the wilderness with the Hebrew nation. He enters their camp in Babylon. He brings them home to Jerusalem. He confines himself to the Holy of Holies to stay in the centre of their camp. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in each individual who is open to receive him. From Genesis to Revelation there is one fact we can’t ignore: God wants to live with us!

Father, I love you. Help me not to live as though you are not in the room. We are in this thing together, and I honour you and welcome your presence into every facet of my life. My heart is yours. Come and make yourself more at home! Amen.
